Cosplay Nickname Change!

Hello everyone!

Ever since summer last year I've been seriously considering changing my cosplay nickname here on my blog. Why I'm changing the nickname is because I want my blog to be more international -as I plan to cosplay abroad- and make it easier to pronounce/remember for non-Finnish people. All in all, I just want to make my cosplay blog easier to access for my future international readers and followers.

To my non-Finnish readers, the meaning of my nickname stays the same aka "Frozen Angel". Those of you who have mentioned me in your blogs etc as Jäätynyt Enkeli in the past, don't need to update the name, unless you really want to.

This is what will change and what will remain the same:

1) My blog/cosplay nickname will change from Jäätynyt Enkeli to Frozen Angel. Please refer to me as Frozen Angel from now on.

2) All links to myself as Jäätynyt Enkeli done in the past on this blog, will be updated with my new nickname.

3) My blog's url address will stay as

4) The blog's watermark logo that can be seen on photos will remain as it is. I want the url address to go along with the name on the watermark.

Bye bye everyone!

CosplaySky Review: Hetalia Prussia Cosplay Costume

Hello folks!

On December 27th I spoke with my con buddies what we're going to cosplay at our next convention and during the talk, I realized that the character I originally planned to cosplay at the con won't be possible due lack of time. The character I planned to debut originally was Germany from Hetalia and now I had to find another Hetalia character to cosplay instead. One way to get a costume fairly fast would be to buy it online, so I asked Shiro Samurai for cosplay store recommendations. I was suggested CosplaySky and decided to check them out. I must admit that this was my very first online cosplay costume purchase and, to be honest, I was nervous about what would find its way to my mailbox. I really didn't know what to expect, seriously.

This is a honest review made by me with no bias or sponsors involved. I bought the costume with my own money out of my own interest. Simple as that.

Since I knew what Hetalia characters I would be the most interested to cosplay as, it was easy for me to pick from the big selection of character costumes available on the site. Holy macaroni, they had almost every main and supporting character from the series! Color me impressed. After checking all the interesting choices, I finally decided to be awesome and cosplay Prussia! What do you mean I prefer the bros?

I placed the order on CosplaySky the 27th December and the costume was finished and shipped out the 6th January. I don't remember the exact date when I received it, but it was either the 13th or 14th January and it was delivered by DHL. The costume total for me was 104 $ and I had it made in custom size, which costs approx 25 $ extra. In my case it was well worth it, as the standard sizes were all waaay off on me. Shipping price was 23 $ for my order.

I'm aware that the character I cosplay in this post might wear details/symbols that can be offensive or emotionally unpleasant to others. I, as a guy with his heart and morals in the right place, just want to make it clear that I DO NOT support, agree with, believe in or have any other connections to the ideologies/beliefs that the character I'm cosplaying is representing. Readers, please keep in mind that what I'm wearing is JUST A COSTUME and shouldn't be taken as anything more than that. Thank you.

When I opened the plastic DHL bag the costume was in -surprise, surprise- another bag! But the bag wasn't your average bag, it was a costume bag with the store's logo and a ziplock closure. The costume was nicely folded inside.

This is what was included:
- Uniform jacket
- Pants
- Boot covers
- Belt
- Iron Cross accessory

This is what was NOT included:
- Wig
- Gloves
- Dress shirt
- Belt for pants

Here are different full body photos of the costume.

For this costume I decided to use an authentic Wehrmacht belt that I bought from Varusteleka, because of close-enough accuracy reasons instead of the belt that came with the costume. I also choose to buy actual lace-up boots as I wanted black boots and the boot covers were of the wrong color, in my opinion. They were dark blue with red details that you just pull over your shoe, with elastics at the bottom. Last but not least I decided to not use the Iron Cross accessory that came with the costume, as it was way too big and of inaccurate material in my opinion; then again, I saw it coming as that was what it looked like on the stock photos. It was made of some sort of very stiff fake leather-like material and possibly PVC for the black area; it consisted of several layers stitched together. I decided to be accurate to the official arts and bought a plain, metallic Iron Cross necklace. Oh and I'm sorry not sorry but it bothers me to hell and back that so many Hetalia cosplayers use an Iron Cross accessory that, like, covers their entire neck. Ugh. I mean, dangnabbit it's a medal of honor and it shouldn't be as big as your ego!! Ärsytys maximus.

Here are some photos of the costume details.

Left arm.
Collar emblem.
The jacket is fully lined.
Hidden buttons on the inside to close the jacket with.
I think the fabric choice and color for the costume is nice and well chosen. On the costume page the fabric choice is labelled as "uniform cloth" but for me, it feels like some kind of medium-weight synthetic fabric. Since the jacket is lined it feels more sturdy and uniform-like than the pants. The pants make me static by the way. Also, the pants have belt loops. For me it looks like the emblems are made of some kind of fake leather or PVC-like material. They're stiff. I think the costume represents the stock photo about 85% accurate. The most prominent differences is that the sleeve buttons are missing on the costume that I received and the collar emblems are different. On the stock photo the Iron Cross appears flatter, softer and looks like it's not layered as the one I received. I personally think that the one I got is cooler, despite not using it for the costume.

This costume is nicely sewn and I saw no loose threads. When it comes to wearing it, I can sit and move around comfortably but I need to be careful when I move my arms towards my back, as it pulls at the armpits. Costume is otherwise pleasant to wear and I don't feel like I have to worry that something would tear or a seam would rip etc.

Final Grade (from A-F): A
Recommend to others:

All in all, I'm very satisfied with the costume and I must admit that when I placed the order, I was a bit worried about what I would get. In my case, the price felt right for what I got and I don't really have any complaints about the service and quality. The sewing and the shipping of the costume was really fast. Personally I would return to do business with CosplaySky.

That's all for this time and thank you for reading. I hope this post was useful and interesting to you!

Lens Review: GEO Color Nine Deep Red

Hello everyone and welcome back!

A new year has approached us and many cosplayers know that a new year means funny stuff like new cons, chance to meet your friends, planning new cosplays and so much more including new derp photos! Myself, I'm really excited about 2016 and it feels really nice to already have the next con's cosplay ready for debut - but I won't reveal the character just yet. The only hint I will give for now is that the character has red eyes, why I will be reviewing the GEO Color Nine Deep Red lenses. Man, I've been waiting to try these babies on for a while now!

So during Saturday last week, I waddled my way to Shiro Samurai's place (Sacchan was also there) and as soon as I got there, I changed to my lens review gear, put the lenses on and SBÖÖÖR was heard.

All of the photos below are taken during a cloudy January day. We northmen don't have many hours of sunlight during the winter half of the year. During January we have around 5 hours per day, so the sun rises around 09:00 and sets around 14:00. All photos are also taken at Shiro Samurai's place. We started taking photos around 11:00.

Lens review:

Color: 10/10
I love these to the moon and back! The color is really opaque!
Comfort: 8/10
I had them on for about 5 h and 30 minutes. At first I felt them in my eyes but the longer I wore them, the less I felt them. I bet I can wear them a full con day. No scratching or any other annoyance.
Design: 7/10
Simple and fairly natural design. I personally enjoy natural looking lenses.
Enlargement: 3/10
Barely any noticeable enlargement and that's for the better in my case, as I have small eyes.
Naturalness: 1/10
If you think these lenses look natural you really need a reality check. Seriously.
Opacity: 7/10
As mentioned above, they are really opaque and cover your real eye color very well.
